The Leap of Faith: From Leeds to Dubai, Pre-Pandemic Dreams ……
Picture this: It is the year 2018, a cozy cafe in Leeds in the University building- I remember the exact moment I hit “send” on that job application—a spontaneous decision, a whisper of a possibility for a life across continents. Little did I know, that click would be the catalyst for an extraordinary adventure. As life and destiny planned it, I landed here in Dubai in the January of 2019.
Now comes 2019, the world is blissfully unaware of the unprecedented world events just around the corner, and I’m 29 years old, brimming with dreams and wonder – no idea what is coming. The future felt like an unwritten novel, and I, the eager protagonist, had absolutely no idea what plot twists lay ahead.
My journey to Dubai began not with a meticulously planned strategy, but with a leap of faith and a heart full of curiosity. It was a pre-pandemic world, a different Dubai, and a moment in time I’ll never forget. Stepping into this new life wasn’t all sunshine and roses from day one. Truthfully, I was terrified.
Taking that leap of faith felt less like soaring and more like stumbling into the unknown.
That initial overwhelm sparked an idea: I wanted to create a space, right here in this blog, for women like me who are navigating life on their own in this beautiful, bustling city. Yes, Dubai can feel daunting at times, but the possibilities are endless. The bonds you forge with incredible people from across cultures, the experiences you collect, and the feeling that every single day is a new chapter are things to truly cherish!! Wait for my next blog- especially if you’re trying to figure out accommodation for yourself in the heart of the city with other like-minded, vibrant women!
